Rishi Raju

In a remarkable achievement, NAISAK's own Rishi Raju has won the silver medal at the collegiate level in the 2024 4th Edition of the Grand Maestro International Music Competition, a prestigious event that draws musicians from all over the world. The competition, which invites performers of all ages and backgrounds to submit recordings showcasing their musical talents, is renowned for its high standards and global reach. Musicians compete in a variety of genres and across multiple instruments, either as solo performers, part of an ensemble, or even within an orchestra. For Rishi to secure a silver medal in this esteemed competition, particularly in such a competitive field, is a testament to his exceptional skill, artistry, and dedication to the craft of violin.

This year's edition of the Grand Maestro competition is particularly special as it is dedicated to the memory of classical composer and pianist Bela Bartok. Musicians were encouraged to perform works by Bartok, whose influence in the classical world is immense. Rishi's silver medal victory, achieved through his emotive and technically proficient performance, not only highlights his mastery of the violin but also demonstrates his ability to convey deep musical expression. The competition consists of two rounds: the Preliminary round and the Final round. All finalists are given widespread recognition, with their performances featured on major New Media Channels like MSNBC, FOX News, and ABC, providing them with a platform to reach a global audience.

Rishi's success in this highly competitive event marks a significant milestone in his musical journey. His ability to shine on such a prestigious stage among talented musicians from around the world reflects his tireless commitment and discipline, as well as the invaluable mentorship he has received. As Laura Opperman, Head of Performing Arts at NAISAK and Juilliard Regional Lead for the Middle East, so eloquently put it: "Hard work and dedication have truly paid off for Rishi in his personal music career this year. His relentless commitment to improving and passion for performance have not only led to significant personal growth but have also inspired fellow classmates. It’s a joy to witness such talent and determination!"

This recognition not only highlights Rishi’s personal achievements but also his positive influence on those around him. The silver medal serves as a personal triumph for Rishi and a proud moment for his family, teachers, and supporters who have been part of his journey. As Rishi continues to grow as a musician, there is no doubt that this achievement will propel him toward even greater accomplishments in the future. Congratulations to Rishi for this well-deserved recognition!
