Al-Khor-Qatar, Students, parents, teachers, and staff gathered at Nord Anglia International School Al Khor Monday to celebrate a fun-packed international day filled with performances and cultural games for all ages to enjoy.
Representing more than 45 nationalities and unique cultures, Nord Anglia International School Al Khor (NAISAK) showcased student talent and entertained with show and tell segments.
The event was revived for the first time since COVID restrictions and was highly anticipated by the Nord Anglia International School Al Khor community.
Loyal parent for the past 8 years at NAISAK, Um Sultan, said “the event is the best I’ve seen in a while and the children had lots of fun showing off their nationality and their traditional dresses.”
The festivities started with all the students showcasing their colorful and unique outfits in the student flag parade hoisting their national pride in the Al Khor sky.
Highlighted performances such as the Qatari Sword Dance, the Bollywood Divas Group, and the Palestinian spoken word were enjoyed and applauded.
Assistant Head Teacher for Primary and one of the organizers of the international family fun day, Joy Bromfield, applauded the efforts of the students and teachers saying, “It has been such a fantastic day and a wonderful way to connect with our community. The NAISAK International day committee have worked hard to make the day a success. Huge thanks to the team!”
Younger students enjoyed the scavenger hunt and classroom activities like painting the flag and making the landmark and other various arts and crafts activities with the teachers.
School principal, Jamie Hughes, enjoyed the celebration with his family saying, “Today's event is a vibrant celebration of the diverse cultures that thrive at NAISAK, mirroring the spirit of hospitality that Qatar is renowned for globally. Al Khor's friendly atmosphere truly brings our community together at NAISAK, making it all about family. Today offers a perfect opportunity for parents to join in, celebrating and strengthening the bonds that make our school community so special.”
Students and their families enjoyed delicious snacks from local food vendors and captured priceless moments in the photobooth.
“I got to discover new cultural foods that I never tried before. My favorite was the Indonesian Iced Tea. It was amazing!” Said NAISAK student, Tameem Saeed Almohannadi about the vast display of cultural foods from around the world.
NAISAK parents, students, staff and faculty crowded the multi-purpose hall to watch the performances, enjoy the food, and take in the day’s festivities.
