After a long and tiring journey, the U16 volleyball team arrived at Oryx International School for the final game of the season. Having only had a short time to warm up, and with a lot of nervous energy flowing, the boys got off to an unsettled start. Both teams took it in turns to score points and neither team settled into their service. The Oryx team called an early timeout which gave the NAISAK team an opportunity to take a step back and evaluate the situation. After a brief team talk, the game got back underway. The NAISAK boys were now more focused and settled into their usual gameplay, working well as a team and scoring with some ferocious spikes. With a few good runs of serve, the game finished 25 – 14 to NAISAK. The team were now feeling confident and started to believe that they could come away with another win. The second game started with a much stronger performance, and NAISAK took a clear lead. Oryx, however, didn’t give up and started to reply with some great blocking at the net. Again, after taking the opportunity to refocus during a timeout, coach Gavin reminded the team not to become complacent and the game was still there to be won and lost. With this in mind, the NAISAK team went back to the court and displayed some of their best volleyball to date, finishing the game 25-16. Overall, the team displayed great teamwork and skill to earn themselves another tremendous victory. Coach Gavin said “the boys have had a great season and thoroughly deserve to end on a high. It’s fantastic to see the progress they have made, and they have shown true sportsmanship throughout”.
