JOIN NAISAK FOR A JANUARY 2025 START DATE
NAISAK U16 Girls Volleyball 2-0 GAAQ (25-20;25-20)
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the venue of the game was outdoors on the school roof, which resulted in some very difficult playing conditions. However, the girls made a strong start and used the windy conditions to their advantage in the first part of the first game by serving the ball high and long, which meant tracking the ball proved very difficult for their opponents. NAISAK continued to take full advantage of the conditions and adapted their play nicely. Although the game could not be considered to be free-flowing volleyball, the girls were never really in trouble in the first game and placed the pressure on the opposition by ensuring the ball was played over the net and letting the conditions take control. They won the first game 25-20.
Switching sides in the second game resulted in the girls having to adjust their game plan. Whereas the ball was going long on many occasions in the first game, the ball was dropping short due to the windy conditions. The girls had to re-adjust their positions on court as well as having to think about the power of their shots as they pushed the ball over the net. The second game saw some miraculous saves, which kept the girls in contention throughout. One aspect of the last game that the girls wanted to improve upon was their service game and it was evident that the girls had been working hard on this in training. Although the second game was much tighter throughout, this strong serving game proved too much for GAAQ, with NAISAK pulling away at the end to win 25-20.
This week sees both the U16 Boys & U16 Girls travel to Oryx for their QUESS Volleyball League Game as well as the U16 Girls B team hosting EMS at NAISAK. We also have our first netball competition of the year, with the U16s once again in action in the QUESS Netball Tournament held at Sherborne.
