Dear Parents and Students
It was this time last year when we launched our new vision for our students, ‘Be challenged and inspired today, challenge and inspire tomorrow’. Along with our High Five core values, this has driven how we progress as a school. Little did I know at the time that the corresponding curriculum review would make such a substantial impact on how our students learn.
Many of our efforts this term have involved the transformation of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) in Primary School and the adoption of the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in Years 7 to 9, which has enabled us to realise our main objectives of allowing 100% of our students to benefit from the enquiry-based programmes on offer. Additionally, the introduction of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) lessons for our Primary School students that do not undertake the Ministry of Education (MOE) lessons has further helped us to challenge and inspire our students. We will be focusing on developing STEAM education in Secondary School next term. You will note a letter that was distributed today from Ms Reena Singh, our Head of Science.
We have also been developing our approach to ensuring mutual respect within the NAISAK community through implementing Positive Discipline in the Classroom. This ensures students have consequences for their actions that are Related, Respectful, Reasonable and Helpful. Please feel free to click the Positive Discipline blog for further information.
In our final assembly on Thursday, we are looking to celebrate some of the many highlights that have occurred throughout the term. This will include some of our Primary School students who did a wonderful job this morning performing what they have learned from Ms Emma Sims in the Juilliard School’s Dance curriculum that was introduced this term.
I look forward to welcoming many of you to school tomorrow for our Qatar National Day celebrations. All parents are welcome to attend. Students will start lining up outside at 08:00 for a 08:20 start. It is a privilege to be Principal at NAISAK and I would like to thank you for your continued trust and support that you place in the school. I hope you have an enjoyable end-of-term holiday break and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
Yours faithfully
Dave Pontich
Building Progress
Please find below some photos of the new Secondary building, pool and changing rooms. We are aiming to have the Ground Floor and First Floor of the Secondary School poured and casted by 25 December, which means we are on target for completion by May 2019.
