Year 2 trip to KidzMondo

Last Wednesday, Year 2 went on a trip to KidzMondo at the Mall of Qatar. KidzMondo allows children to enter a mini world which aims to replicate the adult world of work. When they arrived, they were provided with a boarding pass to fly to the kids’ city and a cheque to cash in at the bank so they had money to spend. As soon as the children arrived into the mini world, they were excited by just how many professions they would be able to learn about. From pilots and midwifes to pest controllers and insurance brokers, the children had a wealth of jobs to choose from. On top of that, there were multiple establishments where children could partake in recreational activities. The concept was simple: work to earn money, which you can then spend around the city in any way you like. Children were working together in teams to solve problems, such as putting out fires as firefighters and checking a patient’s teeth at the dental clinic. They were encouraged to think about their future dreams and goals, linking to our previous PSHE topic. The children came away with a greater understanding of the need for a variety of professions within a city, to make it run effectively. They also learned the value of money by having to earn it if they wanted more. Finally, they were communicating and working alongside different peers within the year group based on shared interests, which helped to develop new friendships across the cohort. Overall, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all students and staff alike!
