As BIS has grown, there have been increasing numbers of opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills. There has also been an increasing number of students representing their tutor groups as part of the Student Council. Last year’s Student Council decided that the school’s model to accommodate student voice needed to evolve and this year the structure of the Student Council would change with its members comprising the elected leaders of each Key Stage with the final Council being chaired by a Head Girl and Head Boy.

Over the summer holiday, eight current Year 13 students applied for the position and interviews were conducted this week by Ms Hill, Mr Airdrie, Mr Webb and Mr Westropp. The quality of the applicants was exceptional and the decision as to who would be appointed extremely difficult but after careful deliberation, Valerie Lua and Trung Tien Tran have been chosen for the roles; though great credit should go to all the applicants who made the decision so tough.

Valerie and Trung Tien will address the school next Friday to share their plans and the remit of their new roles. We look forward to hearing what they have to say and you can find out as well by checking in here for an article that they will publish next week.

Edward Westropp
