Dear Parents,
Every year we say goodbye to some of our excellent teachers and this year is no exception. The following teachers are moving on to other international posts to further their careers or to return to their home countries.
From Secondary school we have:
Diane Vaughan and Jim Schofield have both taught for 6 years at BIS. Mr Schofield will move to join the inaugural staff of a brand new NAE school and Mrs Vaughan has achieved a promoted position to further her career in China.
Laura and James Forster Rea, Bradley Minchin and Stewart Russell are all returning to the UK after each completing 4 years at BIS. Hannah and Tom Agass, Noemie Ajenjo and Eamon Kelly are leaving after 3 years to continue their teaching career in Milan, Nepal and Ireland respectively.
From the Primary team:
Louise Upton and Tom Millis will return to the UK after 3 years in Hanoi and Julie Lee will move with her family to Washington to continue with Nord Anglia Education. Cheska Valdes will be leaving BIS after teaching in EYFS at both BIS HCMC and BIS Hanoi.
Replacing such highly qualified, amazing teachers is always difficult however we are confident that our newly recruited staff will be able to continue the excellent work next year.
From our Nord Anglia Education family, I am pleased to introduce Darragh Shanahan who will be joining BIS from one of our sister school in Prague, as Assistant Head in Primary. Rachael Howarth is another NAE internal recruit who is joining us as Head of Performing Arts. Rachael has extensive knowledge of Juilliard with a specialism in Music and has been the Performing Arts Lead for Europe and The Middle East whilst based in Bratislava. Emily Bevan will also join the Performing Art team from the UK as our first BIS Dance specialist.
To enhance our STEAM and Computer Science provision, Paul Casey will join us from Scotland with 8 years’ experience as a specialist teacher. Liam Yardley will join the Maths department from his current role as Maths Teacher in Jeju and Liam’s wife Serah Oh will join us in the role of Korean Liaison and Exams Officer. Joseff Loft will complete our Science team next year; Joseff is currently teaching in the UK.
To increase our language provision for French and Spanish, we have Georgina Dorr and Emilie Lounis joining us from teaching posts in the UK. An additional Korean teacher, Seyoung An will be joining us and brings the experience of IB and teaching in international schools.
For our Humanities department, I would like to introduce Elaine Barnard, Sophie Peters, Shaun O’Challaghan and Victoria Black all of whom are currently teaching in the UK. Holly Carmichael, Jak Kain and Jessica Monsod will join our Primary teaching team and bring both UK and International experience. Finally, Elizabeth Marozzi will join our Learning Support Team, with a PhD in Behavioural Neuroscience.
Although it will be very sad to say goodbye to our leaving teachers, I look forward to welcoming and introducing our newcomers in August.
Ms Sue Hill
Principal
