This week, we are hosting the first Southeast Asia region Nord Anglia Performing Arts Festival in collaboration with The Juilliard School from April 2-5. This exciting event gives students the opportunity to attend music performances and participate in unique workshops and rehearsals led by talented performers and music educators, including Julliard-affiliated conductor Radu Paponiu.
On Tuesday, 8 schools joined BIS at the Melia Hotel for the opening of the inaugural Regional Nord Anglia Performing Arts Festival. The opening ceremony included a celebration of Vietnamese culture with an arousing performance from the BIS drummers, a beautiful Vietnamese choral ensemble and an enticing fan dance. The renowned BIS choir and a stunning violin and piano duet finished the ceremony and really set the scene for the week ahead.
The festival then moved to BIS Hanoi where the hard work started in earnest! A collaboration of 9 schools from Singapore, Manila, Pattaya, Bangkok, Cambodia, Yangon, Kuala Lumpur and our two schools from Hanoi provided an incredible pool of talent. Radu, our Juilliard conductor delivered expert tuition over 3 days and really brought all students together for the concert at the National Academy of Music which is due to happen at 7 pm on Friday evening. What a fabulous experience for the students of our Nord Anglia family!
