Dear Parents,

This week we received the exciting news that BIS Hanoi has been short-listed for the International School Awards for 2019. From over 200 nominations, we have reached the final three in the category ‘Pastoral Initiative’.

To be recognised in a worldwide competition, open to all international schools through the International School Leader Magazine supported by ISC Research, is a super achievement. The awards ceremony will be held in London on January 21st 2019 and we will keep you updated on the overall results.

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of visiting the British Ambassador’s residence for the purpose of meeting His Royal Highness, The Duke of York. Prince Andrew’s visit to Vietnam is timely as this year celebrates 45 years of diplomatic relations between Great Britain and Vietnam. The topic of conversation revolved around the importance of receiving a good quality education here in Hanoi and how to facilitate even better connections between British universities and Vietnam.

As we approach the festive holidays, we have many events organised which celebrate just how talented our students are! Last night, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of singing, dancing, and musical ability in our Primary Winter Concert. Congratulations to all our performers – you were truly amazing! A special thank you to Ms. Rea, Mr. Scott and Ms. Huyen in our Performing Arts team who worked incredibly hard to showcase talent in a seamless hour of entertainment.

Next week, we have two more exciting events for your calendar. On Tuesday, our youngest children will be performing in a festive concert in the Early Years Centre. This annual musical singalong is always a wonderful way to lead us into a holiday with a little festive spirit. Then on Wednesday and Thursday evenings our now famous, annual production will be held in the Auditorium. This year the production is "Annie", a lively musical performed by our secondary students. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
