We are excited to invite the parents of Year 11 and Pre IB students to our “IB Options Fair”. The event will take place in the Library on Thursday (October 11) between 5 pm to 7 pm with optional presentations at 5 pm and 6 pm in the Theatre.
This is a momentous point in the lives of our young learners, the IB options pathway a student picks will influence the rest of their academic lives. The decision of which subjects to take is often very difficult, it is important to focus on what a student enjoys and their intended future career. Year 11 students will begin a series of life skills lessons looking at future careers and higher education, led by Mrs Fairbairn, our University Counsellor.
During the IB Options Fair, support and guidance will be available from the Sixth-Form team and subject specialists. This is a great opportunity to engage with our staff and ask any question you might have. A copy of our 2019 Options Booklet will be available in the foyer. You could take a look next time when you are in school to see the exciting opportunities available to Sixth Form students at BIS Hanoi.
This week, our Year 13 students have also reached a major milestone in their IB studies. Over the past two days, they have delivered their Theory of Knowledge presentations. This is an extremely important and rewarding opportunity for our students to showcase their flair for asking, and answering challenging questions about ‘how we know what we know’. Year 13 students question claims about how we construct or gain knowledge, whilst using real-life situations demonstrate the implications of these knowledge issues. I was incredibly impressed with the high academic standards and eloquence demonstrated by our learners.
Mr Jim Schofield, our TOK Coordinator, had very positive comments about the presentations we saw.
Congratulations to our Year 13’s on their successful presentations. I’m sure our Year 11’s will be inspired and excited to begin their IB journey next week.
