What a delight to celebrate the Moon Festival with our BIS community today. I would like to extend a big thank you to all the parents who came to watch the colourful and entertaining show opened by Ana from Year 12. The following acts, performed by Year 4, 6, 8 and 10 were of a very high standard. In just 2 weeks, our students have managed to learn beautifully choreographed dances which helped teach us more about Vietnamese tradition and culture. Congratulations to all involved, the show was amazing. I am always delighted by the talent of our Vietnamese staff and students.

Visit from Andy Puttock

It was our pleasure to host the visit of Andy Puttock, the Director of Education for Nord Anglia Education Schools yesterday. In addition to meeting with members of staff to celebrate new opportunities for children within our group of schools, Andy was delighted to have the opportunity to visit classrooms and observe lessons. From Foundation Stage to Year 12, the quality of learning seen was impressive. To quote Andy, “First and foremost, I can’t begin to thank you and your colleagues enough for a wonderful day today. I learnt so much but also had a really good time. …so many positives about the whole school and obviously moving very much in the right direction. The school is a great school.”

NAE Tanzania Visit

Andy Puttock also presented to all teachers and teaching assistants to provide further details about the benefits for our students of being part of Nord Anglia Education. Once again, the BIS will be sending students to the Nord Anglia Education Camp in Tanzania and our students will link with other NAE schools and will work together to help a poor community in Africa. Having the opportunity to meet and work alongside others from our group of schools provides an excellent global sharing of ideas and a forum to get to know about different cultures. Every student accompanying the trip in January is expected to raise money to donate to the foundation Seeway.

On Monday, representatives from the Wilderness Foundation will visit BIS to raise awareness of the plight of the rhino. TV coverage will be filmed by VTV4. Students in the secondary school are invited to come to school dressed as animals and pay a small donation to raise money for the Tanzania project.

NAE Global Campus

A further benefit of being part of Nord Anglia Education is the access for students to the Global Campus. By logging on, students can connect with other students across our 56 schools worldwide, take part in competitions and access great resources. Competitions are advertised here too.

MIT STEAM

Nord Anglia has a collaboration with one of the world’s leading universities, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). In October, a group of 14 students will represent BIS at the Nord Anglia Regional STEAM festival in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop skills through problem-based challenges which are themed around Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics and are very much in tune with the MIT philosophy.
