After a 4-hour bus journey we made it to the ethnic Thai village of Ban Lac where the students are staying in traditional stilt houses.
The students were lucky enough to cycle around the stunning Mai Chau countryside and take in the sights; the lush green mountains that appear out of nowhere as well as the buffalo and farmers tending to the rice paddies.
Students had fun building rafts to row down the river. It was very competitive but they worked very well as a team. Even some of the teachers got involved. It was a friendly competition, there were no winners, but the teachers did finish first.
Tomorrow students will trek to the project to find out what they will be doing as well as to engage in conversation with the local villagers to find out about some of the hardships they face.
