What did you think about this year in Spanish?

It has been a pleasure to witness so much enthusiasm and students' confidence growing throughout the year when studying foreign languages at British International School, Hanoi. Students have been involved in a number of diverse activities which made their learning enjoyable and challenging. All classes have acquired good basics in the three languages including Korean, French and Spanish and seemed truly passionate about the cultural side of their lessons. Some of our students have shared what they thought about this year in Spanish and French.

"It is a similar word in English - fantastic. I think, throughout the year, that Spanish was a thrilling and a very interesting subject. In class, not only did we learn a language with Mrs Rojas that we also had fun via a variety of activities that related to the Spanish culture. As an example, at the end of term 1, we cooked Spanish tortilla; it enabled us to discover a new side of learning a language with was the culinary culture. Cooking and speaking Spanish together enabled us to be challenged but also to have a fun time as a class.

I will carry on learning Spanish next year and maybe I will take it for my IB year as I believe that it is an important subject; it's a very fascinating language and I want to know more about it so I can use it for my future.Thank you."

"I picked the word interesting because French made me want to discover more about, first of all France, but also the world in general. It made me realize that there is something else out there such as unique cultures and ways of life. This year, I learned French through its expressions, cooking lesson,  films without subtitles and song we have listened in class. Am I doing it again next year? Of course, the reason being that I enjoy learning French. This year was engrossing because it didn’t have boring lessons of vocabulary and grammar; instead we had a range of activities and conversations in class which were the key to make us smile for the day and this is the reason why a lot of students would probably say that this year taught us more than just a language. I look forward to discover more about the world through French."
