On Monday, Year 8 went on a trip to Hanoi Geological Museum. It was built in 1914 and has displays showing The Earth and the Solar System and the The Geological Evolution of Vietnam. Set 1 & 2 went in the morning and in the afternoon it was set 3’s turn. When we arrived we watched an exciting video about rocks and then went on a treasure hunt. On the first and second floor, there are a lot of rocks; most of them are really rare and precious. The rocks came from a lot of different places like caves, rivers, mountains from places like Nghe An and Lao Cai. On the third floor, there are more rocks and even some really old artifacts from Vietnamese geologists and other kinds of Earth scientists. At the end, we were then taught about three different types of main rock on Earth and we also got to touch real samples. After the trip, I feel that I have learnt more about rocks and the Earth and I’m really excited to learn about Geology later this half term!
