Trip to Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary Educates BIS Parents
The Friends of BIS parents’ group enjoyed a visit to the Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary on Monday this week. The parents gained a better knowledge and understanding of the sanctuary’s facilities, the Community service programmes that are open to BIS students and, most importantly, the issues surrounding bear bile farming and what Tam Dao are doing to try and stop it.

150 International Universities Represented In One Day At BIS Hanoi
On Friday 27th September 2019, BIS Hanoi hosted the International Schools of Hanoi University Fair 2019 at our campus. There were more than 150 universities from 20 different countries in attendance with over 30 workshops for Year 11-13 students from BIS Hanoi and UNIS as well as parents.

On Wednesday 25th September, students in Years 7-10 took part in our termly House Maths competition. This term, the competition was Sprint Maths and the atmosphere was electric with students being determined to be the quickest to the teacher and lots of friendly competition between the teams!

Year 12 student and Wilderness Foundation Africa present a message of rhino protection
On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome Mr Norval - a representative from Wilderness Foundation Africa - to BIS Hanoi. The visitor, with Duc Tuan (Year 12), delivered a presentation to Key Stage 4&5 students about the pleight of rhinos in the wild and the projects being worked on to maintain the population of these incredible animals.

BIS Hanoi team win 22 medals to book their ticket to the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) Tournament of Champions at Yale University
The Junior round of The Global Round of World Scholar's Cup (WSC) 2019 has recently taken place in Manila. A BIS Hanoi team of Bao Linh, Quynh Anh and Kim Ngan were incredibly successful at the competition and achieved qualification for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in November 2019!

On September 12, our Friends of BIS parents group went on a tour of the Hanoi Old Quarter to celebrate the Moon Festival. They had a wonderful time strolling through the streets of the Old Quarter and experiencing the Moon Festival like a local. The results are in! After careful consideration, Valerie Lua and Trung Tien Tran (both are in Year 13) have been chosen as our first-ever Head Girl & Head Boy at BIS Hanoi! This year, the structure of the Student Council would change with its members comprising the elected leaders of each Key Stage with the final Council being chaired by a Head Girl and Head Boy.

Everyone associated with the British International School Hanoi (BIS Hanoi) is extremely proud that two of our students: Ha Minh and Sung Woo, successfully represented the school at the NAE-UNICEF Student Summit this Summer. BIS Hanoi student spreads the message on rhino protection
After winning Wilderness Foundation Africa’s 2018-2019 Wild Rhino Competition, Duc Tuan from Year 12 had the opportunity to go on a trip to South Africa. In July, he took part in a wilderness trail at one of South Africa’s Game Reserves. Since his return, Duc Tuan has been happy to share details of his once-in-a-lifetime experience as well as what he has learnt about rhinos and wildlife protection.
