A fabulous start to the new term
After weeks of preparation, planning and, I must add, considerable frustration with the delays, I am delighted to finally be in school. Leading the school remotely was a somewhat strange experience, and whilst not an ineffective strategy, no amount of technology can replace face to face contact; people together in the same space at the same time.

Assessment in Primary
At BIS Hanoi, on-going formative assessment of our children’s learning happens every day and in every lesson. Through this daily assessment, our teachers are able to plan and pitch their lessons to all of the children’s different abilities and stages of learning. If there is something that we have all learnt from 2020 so far, it is that there is a need as individuals to be able to respond and adapt to a rapidly changing context. We in fact know, that this isn’t exclusive to periods of global pandemics, but that world-wide we are in a period of time where technological development is moving forward at a rapid pace. Known as the Information Age. Throughout this period of significant change, we rely on skills such as inquiry across a growing number of sources, reflection on our own personal journey and ultimately, care for both ourselves, others in our community and our planet.
