At BISC-LP, our youngest children are introduced to education right from the beginning. Our students in Years 1 to 6 follow a blend of English National Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which is modified on a continual basis to give students the right amount of challenge and support. Morning Care
Our youngest students can join us from 7:00 a.m., but registration takes place at 8:30 a.m. Our little ones are gently welcomed to the school day and prepared for the play-based learning time they’ll enjoy. An open-door policy means you can drop your child right to the classroom and even stop for a chat with their teacher.

Early Years students take attendance at 8:30 a.m. Afterwards, they might take part in child-initiated time, focusing on communication and language, personal, social and emotional development and physical development. They’ll do this in a play-based environment, which encourages the improvement of foundational academic skills. Children usually then move on to Circle Time and a snack.

Morning Play
Your child’s day might then develop with P.E. or dance lessons, taught by highly trained specialist teachers in purpose-built classrooms. Through the morning, they might also explore music lessons and introductions to STEAM subjects.

Lunch takes place at 11:30 a.m. Our children have access to age-appropriate, nutritious meals which help them to refuel before an afternoon which could include phonics, Spanish lessons or a trip to the library.

Afternoon Learning
In the afternoon, children move on to activities like physical development. We aim for our children to spend time outside running and playing daily. We have outside play spaces, as well as large indoor playgrounds, to support the need to be physically active and to ensure proper gross motor skills are developed. Students get the opportunity to play outside more than once a day—usually accompanied by a healthy snack to keep up their energy levels and focus.

More Fun!
Our school hours support a working parent schedule and we run a large variety of enrichment classes after school to both extend the children’s interests and support childcare needs. There are options such as soccer, Mandarin, cooking, dance and music lessons. Children can stay at school right up to 6:30 pm. if needed.

Full STEAM Ahead
In the mornings, students at BISC-LP might encounter STEAM lessons––that's science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. Or they might continue learning a foreign language: French or Spanish. Whatever it is they’re doing, children always have fun and are challenged in morning lessons.

Rooftop Recess
One of our calling cards is our rooftop playground, which gives your child the space to experience some time outdoors. They can burn off any restless energy they might have to get them focused for late morning classes which could include a topic lesson: each topic gives us a platform to create lessons with a global focus––a topic such as “Rainforests” could take us to both Southeast Asia and South America. Lessons across multiple subject areas will then be linked within that theme.

Late Morning Learning
Students could experience more STEAM lessons, or other core subjects like literacy. Our early years approach is phonics-based. This allows students to develop literacy skills at a young age. We build on this foundation and continue to develop comprehension, fluency and a love of reading as they move through the primary years. They'll also progress their writing skills by learning the technical aspects, as well as how to write creatively.

Between 12-1:00 pm, alongside their friends, students enjoy a nutritious lunch prepared by our onsite catering team, followed by playtime on the roof. This could be a warm-up for afternoon performing arts––which include dance, drama, and music, and is backed up by our partnership with the Juilliard School.

Afternoon
When they’ve eaten and spent time exercising, refreshed students could take part in off-site games, preparing them for the world of varsity sports with our own version, in which students can learn the value of sportsmanship through inter-House competition. They might take a trip to our wonderful library and borrow a book or get a head start on their homework. On Fridays, students end the day with an assembly.

Primary students can enjoy a whole host of extra-curricular activities––from STEAM-based projects to alternate language lessons in Mandarin. They can take part in school sports activities, representing the school in a variety of sports, and every single activity is designed to give our students a sense of pride in their school.
